Additionally, if you are interested in creating a bulk airflow simply by two wires, potentially applicable to thermal management of the electronics, please do not hesitate to come by the ETFLab (E1-241). Po-Hao presented his work in the ESA 2018 joint conference and was awarded 2nd place in student competition. Big congratulations.

The work Po-Hao is going to present is about the PQ curves of the ionic wind pumps. Ionic wind pumps are the devices that move air by the principles of electrohydrodynamics. Ionic wind pumps have no moving parts such that the noise is extremely low while the geometry can be flexible: great features required in modern thermal solutions.

Dr. Wen's invention has been officially patented by the US Patent and Trademark Office. This invention is a new design of the collector used in the electrostatic precipitators to suppress particle reentrainment. The idea is to collect particles in a secured space rather than on a flat surface. Check this patent out: US9808808.
